the sound of silence

-little something i wrote on the plane ride home.

-transcending time:

as i look out my little window (my very own vantage point from the sky), i can see for miles.
my mind wanders endlessly over the vast mountain ranges that lie below.
i can only guess what its like down there. if its as beautiful as it is from above, we have nothing to worry about.
as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. i believe in that statement.

im longing to escape. the time is now, or so everyone says. even the nice lady sitting next to me on the plane says so. she's writing in her journal as i am mine. she is from illinois but lives in missouri. she's heading to california for a business meeting. its funny how you meet people through travel. this plane is full of people, but my seat is assigned next to her, and we began to talk. im glad i met her. as soon as we lifted off, she started writing in her journal. made me realize i havnt been writing lately. so here i am.

from the looks of the land, i guess we are over new mexico somewhere now. its april and there is still snow on the highest peaks. when i flew this way in january, every bit of land was covered in snow. bodies of water iced over. now all that remains are the last patches of snow, holding onto winter through the oncoming heat of summer.

its funny to drink a beer in the sky if you visualize it. if i were on the ground directly below the airplane drinking a beer, all would be fine. but im suspended in the air, transcending time and distance, yet still drinking this beer. maybe im just excited cause its my first beer on an airplane. ha

now i see a torn and tattered landscape. scarred from years of erosion and effected by the movement of humanity. railroad lines linking the east to west. many folks have ventured this way before. they just never had it as easy as we.

now my mind has moved on to the sky. the mirror image of the sea, with its great stretches of blue. its vast emptiness is anything but that. it is full of everything. the rolling white clouds are the waves of the sky. the movement is similar. when i was kid, i always wanted to fly. here i am, flying regularly from place to place. am i happy? yes. but i still want to fly.

looks as if we are coming out of the mountains now. i see miles and miles of land washed away by rivers of times present and past. it looks so barren. what lives down there? who lives down there? what do they do? i guess we will have to find out one day.

its funny to look about the plane. the different people. faces. the variety of emotions. the lady behind me looks sad. someone in first class is angry because their drink spilled. the kid 2 seats over hasnt stopped laughing the whole flight. everyone is in their own world. headphones on. watching movies. listening to music. people are sleeping. reading. chatting. theres a baby crying somewhere, but i think it fell asleep.

patches of farmland stretch to the end of what seems the world now. the patchwork of earth as seen from the sky. so thats how earth is knitted all together. by parcels of land that people own and violators will be prosecuted. (or shot in texas)

its been a fun time traveling this break. flew from the western shores to the eastern seaboard. drove through the south. now flying back west. sounds like i need to go north sometime. maybe north101 will do for now. ventura is calling me.
emma wood i love you.

ready to just kick back on my back porch and let the pacific breeze blow. hopefully my wind chimes will move. i can use some music.

back on the grind as they say. school in the morning at 8. how wonderful.
its really not that bad, but id rather be surfing. ill surf afterwards anyways, so its all good.

as long as you keep a happy face and put yourself in a happy place, then you will win the happy race.

pursuit of happiness:

if theres anything you get out of my life, know that i lived to tell this story.
i developed a strong bond with this earth, and lived everyday in its glory.
the beauty of nature grabbed a hold of me at a young age.
i was in awe of life through each and every stage.
life starts with birth, and ends with death.
even plants sometimes lose their last breath.
people are born into a world of unknowns.
often times we don't find answers until we are grown.
some answers may never be found, but don't stop asking.
looking in the wrong places doesn't mean you are lacking.
theres this thing called love, which i myself have yet to figure out.
and each persons pursuit of happiness starts with venturing about.
some people say dive in, some say test the waters first.
i say live in it, it cant be that much worse.
follow your dreams, and you will go far.
your dreams have no limit, so reach for the stars.
i followed my dreams, and now i have new ones.
i acted upon them and now i must move on.
follow your heart most of all, and all will be fine.
your pursuit of happiness is just that, and my pursuit is mine.
